Dane County

In 1839, Dane County was founded and named after Nathan Dane, an American statesman who helped sculpt and colonize part of the United States. Fast forward nearly 200 years, and Dane County is now the fastest growing county in the state of Wisconsin.
 
Dane County is home to over 500,000 residents in more than 60 cities, villages, and towns. From lively downtowns and businesses to beautiful woodlands and gently rolling agricultural fields, we are proud to encompass communities of all shapes and sizes.
 
Dane County is home to world-class colleges and universities, including Madison College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We also have excellent schools, a beautiful landscape of lakes, rivers and parks, and some of the most productive farms in the state and nation.
 
Dane County Executive Melissa Agard is the chief elected leader and governs the County along with the Dane County Board of Supervisors. Other elected officials include the County Sheriff, District Attorney, County Clerk, Treasurer, Register of Deeds, County Judges and the Circuit Court Clerk.

Since 1913, Hooper has grown to become a well-respected electric power and mechanical contractor. With headquarters in Wisconsin and regional offices in the states of Colorado, Florida, and Ohio, Hooper provides a wide range of services to support commercial and residential clients.

Hooper’s areas of expertise include fabrication and installation of complex plumbing, process piping, fire protection, and HVAC systems as well as the construction of substations and high-voltage transmission and distribution lines. Hooper also actively provides power line clearance and deploys emergency storm response teams around the country to help restore power to communities ravaged by natural disasters.

Reach Dane

Reach Dane provides high-quality early childhood services to over 1,000 underserved children ages 0-5 in Dane and Green County through center based and home visitation programs. Our staff work tirelessly every day to reach the most vulnerable children and families in our community, and the need for our services is growing. The number of infants and toddlers experiencing homelessness enrolled in our programs has tripled over the last four years. Last year, Reach Dane served more homeless children than any other Head Start program in Wisconsin.

Red Caboose.png

Red Caboose

Red Caboose is the oldest independent child care center in Madison. Red Caboose was founded by a group of parents as a nonprofit child care center in 1972. In 1998 the University of Wisconsin Press published a book about Red Caboose, The Good-Bye Window. Since those early days, Red Caboose has expanded to meet the needs of families with school-age children through quality after school and summer camp programs.

Our mission is to connect the community through food access, land access, and urban agriculture education. 

​

Rooted resulted from the January 2020 merger of two vibrant Madison nonprofit organizations with aligned missions: Center for Resilient Cities (founded in 1996) and Community GroundWorks (founded in 2001).

​

Since 2020, Rooted has been operating as a cohesive, wide-reaching community-centered urban agriculture hub. Rooted partners with 12 Madison Schools to provide hands-on agriculture education to youth, distributes thousands of pounds of food to local neighbor centers and food pantries, supports community gardens and collaborative farm gardens throughout Dane County, and hosts in-person and virtual community events free of charge throughout the Madison area. Rooted accomplishes this broad set of operations with 14 full-time, 4 part time, and 8 seasonal employees, supported by over 1,000 active volunteers and 10 youth staff.
