Operation Fresh Start holds open house to highlight recent program additions

by Channel3000

MADISON, Wis. — Operation Fresh Start hosted an open house at its location on Madison’s east side Tuesday.

Organizers used the event as a way to reopen their doors to the community after the COVID-19 pandemic while showcasing its work to help young adults build their futures.

Over the past few years, the group has added several new programs to address some of the county’s largest barriers to teens and young adults. Among the new programs are driver’s license attainment, career counseling and advanced-level construction and conservation training programs.

“We know there are jobs out there and we know there are young people not connected with the systems to move forward with those jobs, (so we’re) helping the young people understand their skills and possibilities and helping them move toward those career positions,” Gregory Markle, the group’s executive director, said.
