Operation Fresh Start's volunteer Board of Directors
Governs the non-profit agency, meeting monthly.
The Board works as a whole to actively be involved with changes going on at OFS as well as choose specific committees to work with.
Current board members are:
Laurie Logan, President
Laurie Logan is a Real Estate Consultant with RE/MAX Preferred. She has been a Dane County Realtor for 18 years, and she is past president of the Realtors' Association of South Central Wisconsin. She has been on the management team of RE/MAX Preferred for 10 years. Laurie is also past president of the West Side Club and a member of ZONTA of Madison. Zonta is an organization devoted to improving the health and financial status of women locally and internationally. She is married to John Kommers, and they have one daughter, Ashley. Laurie has a BS in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been a member of the OFS Board since 2005.
David J. Lehrer, Vice President
David Lehrer has been a financial advisor for 27 years, the last three years with Morgan Stanley. A resident of Monona, WI., David has three children, ages 15, 18, and 20. His hobbies include gardening, participating and watching many sports, and doing 'anything outdoors.' He has been a member of the OFS Board since November 2005 and a volunteer tutor and mentor at OFS since 1995. He says, "I enjoy great rewards through my work at OFS by participating in the development of so many excellent young people." Mr. Lehrer received a BS in Economics from UW-Madison and an MBA in Finance from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Beth E. Lewis, Secretary
Beth Lewis is a school administration consultant for the Wisconsin Department of Instruction providing assistance to schools in the areas of alternative education, children at risk, jail-based education and youth options. Beth's experience includes 25 years of working with alternative education, school discipline and the social service and juvenile justice systems. Her primary professional focus has been to help the systems that share students (parents, schools, social and human services, courts, law enforcement and community agencies) help those students to be successful. Beth has a BS in social work, criminal justice and political science from Carroll University and an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University.
Edward W. Wing, Treasurer
Ed Wing has been a CPA for over 37 years and is retired from TDS, Inc., where he was assistant corporate controller. Ed also worked as an accountant for Wisconsin Cheeseman and for the public accounting firm of Smith & Gesteland. A lifelong resident of the Madison area, Ed is married and has two children and four grandchildren. Ed is also a member of the Board of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. Ed has been a member of the OFS Board since 1972. He has served as past president, treasurer, secretary, and is currently vice president. Ed is currently a member of the Executive and Finance committees.
Patricia A. Robinson
Patricia Robinson's varied career has included 13 years on the faculty of the UW-Madison's College of Engineering, teaching technical communication courses. She was the first Director of the University's Technical Communication Certificate program. In 1991, Dr. Robinson traded her red pen for a badge and joined the Madison Police Department, where she spent five years as a patrol officer and another four years as a full-time training officer, teaching a variety of subjects ranging from firearms to report writing. She retired from the Police Department in 2000 and joined the Training and Standards Bureau of the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she served as Law Enforcement Education Director and Deputy Bureau Director. She led the development of an improved and expanded law enforcement basic training curriculum, now used throughout the state. Since 2007, Dr. Robinson has served as Dean of the Criminal Justice Division at Fox Valley Technical College. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Oberlin College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.

Dave Kinyon
Dave Kinyon is Special Projects Coordinator for the Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corps. He has been a member of the OFS Board since 2004 and is a member of its Housing Committee.
Robin Carley
Robin Carley is the owner of Carley, Wood. He joined the Board in 2008.
Paul Moberg
D. Paul Moberg, Ph.D., is Deputy Director of the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, and a senior scientist in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Moberg has been involved in applied research and evaluation since 1973. His work has emphasized adolescent health and substance abuse prevention; intervention for alcohol and drug problems, and evaluation research. He earned his master's degree in sociology from Marquette University, and a PhD in sociology (with a minor in evaluation research) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Moberg joined the OFS Board in September 2008.
David Worzala
David Worzala is Dane County's Treasurer. He was a member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors from 2006-2007, when he stepped down to assume the office of Treasurer. He joined the OFS Board in 2008.
Dennis Lynch
Mr. Lynch is Vice President for Healthcare Services for Miron Construction. He has 31 years experience in planning, financing, and developing healthcare facilities across the country. His clients have included most of the major group practices and hospitals nationwide. Among his several credentials, Dennis is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a member of the United Way Vision Council. Dennis joined the OFS Board in March 2009.
Brenda Brown
Brenda Brown has 28 years of management experience in health and human services institutions with a special emphasis in human resources, budget, research and facilities management. Brenda currently is employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as Administrator for the Division of Business Management Services. She is an active member in the community involved with many community organizations. She is a mother of 5 and a grandmother to 3. Brenda joined the OFS board in May of 2009.
Judith Wilcox
Until her retirement in November 2008, Judith Wilcox was Section Chief, Special Needs Housing in the Division of Housing and Community Development in the State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce. She was responsible for the administration of several homeless programs funded by state general purpose revenue: the State Shelter Subsidy Program, the Transitional Housing program, Interest Bearing Trust Account and the Homelessness Prevention Program. She also directed the administration of several programs funded through the federal government: the HUD Emergency Shelter Grant program, the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS program, the PATH and SOAR programs, the HOME Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program and the HUD Supportive Housing Program (SHP). The SHP activities included responsibility for the coordination and submission of the balance of state application to HUD and the administration of the homeless management information system. She has worked in the affordable housing field since 1972 and is currently active on the Dane County Housing Authority and with several organizations addressing affordable housing and homeless issues. Judith joined the OFS Board of Directors June, 2009.

Anne Fischer
Anne Fischer has been an educator for 30 years. For the past 8 years, she has served as a school principal for Madison Public Schools at the high school level (Affiliated Alternatives) and the middle school level (Jefferson Middle School). She has extensive background working successfully with a wide range of students who are experiencing significant barriers to school and life success. Prior to her 18 years in Madison Schools, she taught in the Milwaukee Public Schools and was an instructor at UW-Milwaukee in the Teacher Eduction Department. Her passion is working with teams of caring people who can collectively 'move the mountains.' Anne joined the Board of Directors in October, 2009.
